City Lights

Last night I met Scott after work. We schlepped around to all the tourist landmarks snapping photos of the holiday lights, me for the blog and him for the cover of the annual Christmas CD he burns for his family every year. It was a fun way to get into the spirit of the season. But after about two hours of fighting crowds and being pushed and prodded by tourists, we ended up at the Hell's Kitchen eatery, Vynl, where I had two much needed glasses of wine with dinner. Cheers!

These are lovely shots, Mike. What are you shooting with and what settings are you using? I'm curious how you manage to avoid the yellowish cast of light when shooting in darkness.

Hey Glenn--Thanks! I'm shooting with my Canon Power Shot digital camera (3.5 megapixil--now 2 years old)I just have it on the "auto" setting and turn the flash off and this is what I get.
More Christmas photos to come!

I love the pics of the lights. When i was in NYC i took heaps of pics of the lights. I especially like your one of the snowflakes on Saks Fifth Avenue. Isnt the music great that plays with them! I stood and watched them everytime the music played.
I know there are a lot of people stopping and taking pics of them so i can relate when you say there were people passing by you having to dodge them. Well done for that.
I soooooo miss New York.
